Overview:

Space to Grow is a community-based organization whose mission is to respond to the needs of organizations that benefit women and children. In November 2005, four friends decided to share their blessings by giving back to their community. Almost five years later, we have grown to a group of 11 women and we continue to increase the programs and initiatives that we undertake. Most of our initiatives have benefited the residents of the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida and their transitional housing facility, the Women’s Residential & Counseling Center (WRCC). Our events include fundraising activities, supply drives and volunteer initiatives. Extreme attention to detail is paid to each event in order to produce the highest quality activity that will let the recipients know we care about them. Compassionate, unique and fun are key ingredients to the success of our events.

Mission:

The mission of Space to Grow Charities is to engage the community to support programs that benefit children and families by assisting Non Profit Organizations (NPOs) in Central Florida through Giving Events© Giving Events© are individually designed to 1) meet critical operational and program shortages of NPOs and 2) create unique volunteer opportunities to engage the community. Giving Events© have three components – fundraising, collection drives and volunteerism.

We strive to assist NPOs to build stronger families through community service projects that empower, enrich and educate both the clients and the donors. Our goal is to create innovative projects that leverage the power of partnerships to address the barriers that stand in the way of self-sufficiency, self-love and self-confidence.  Our partners include individuals, groups, non-profit organizations, corporations and foundations.

Accomplishments:

We have produced over 20 unique Giving Events© since February 2006, many of which have become annual signature events. Our Giving Events© have raised over $12,000 in direct donations to non-profit organizations. In addition we have collected an estimated $21,000 value in In-Kind donations from individual and corporate sponsors.  Giving Events© participants have logged over 8000 volunteer hours with an estimated dollar value of approximately $142,240.

Past Giving Events© include: Annual Baskets of Love Initiative.  Raffle Drawings. Holiday themed parties. Spirit Nights. Children’s Spring Parties.  Monthly Babysitting Nights. Back to School Block Parties & School Supply Drives. Backyard Movie Nights. Collection Drives. Field Trips.  Holiday Wish List Adoptions. We are very proud of our accomplishments and are grateful to all of our supporters who make this type of success possible - we couldn’t do it with our volunteers and sponsors.

Testimonials:

On behalf of the clients and staff at Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, I want to express my appreciation for your continued commitment to our Women’s Residential and Counseling Center (WRCC).  You, your volunteers and sponsors at Space to Grow have truly made a difference in the lives of the women and children we serve at WRCC.  The “Baskets of Love” that overflow with hygiene supplies, detergent, quarters for laundry, gift cards, and other items have made Valentine’s Day extra-special for a number of years.  The thousands of dollars raised through your vacation package raffles last year and this have gone far to fund some of the specific needs at this transitional housing facility; and  the December 13th Day of Beauty was a great success.

These are but a few of the many ways you have given to the Coalition.   We are extremely fortunate to have your dedication to our mission and, through Space to Grow, that of everyone who is working with you.

Brent A. Trotter, President/CEO, Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida (February 2010)
